Message from the Executive Director
The Nueva School was founded 44 years ago as a private school with a public purpose. As part of that purpose, the school established the Innovative Learning Conference in 2007 to bring in top researchers and practitioners to share best practices and new models of education.
With up to 1,000 participants attending, the 2011 Innovative Learning Conference will go further than previous years by providing more international speakers and broader topic strands, including engineering/design thinking, math education, cultivating compassion, gaming for learning, entrepreneurship, and meeting the needs of high-ability students, to name a few. Having doubled in size since 2007, the conference presents leading-edge thinking on all aspects of innovative teaching and learning, leaving participants with practical examples of how to improve and accelerate the educational experience for preK to 12th grade learners.
Through lectures, workshops, and panels, attendees of the two-day conference will gather information that is immediately relevant to their students and classrooms. Superintendents can share their findings across constituencies, and parents can learn how to challenge and assist their children at home. With scholarships available for teachers, the conference seeks to provide broad access to professional development.
Between presentations, visitors can experience the Innovative Learning Conference Exhibition Hall, which provides extraordinary opportunities to interact with presenters and find resources for use at home and in the classroom.
The 2011 Innovative Learning Conference is like no other forum of its kind, combining cutting-edge research and ideas with a community-oriented mission. Reaching a national audience, the conference seeks to spread new and exciting practices in education and parenting, changing the way children are taught, both now and in the future.
